Our organization works to promote Horseshoe Bend National Military Park and its activities, to increase awareness and understanding of the Park, of the Creek War, the War of 1812, and the National Park System.

Horseshoe Bend National Military Park

Established as a unit of the National Park Service in 1959, the park contains the site of the Horseshoe Bend battlefield, a museum, hiking trails, and other resources on 2040 acres in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. 

 

The park is approx. 15 miles from Dadeville on Hwy. 49.

The Battle of Horseshoe Bend

The last major battle of the Red Stick War or Creek War of 1813-1814 was fought here on March 27, 1814.  An estimated 800 Red Stick warriors lost their lives.  The victory was the last major battle of the war and sealed the fate of the Red Stick resistance.
